Cancun Travel Mart recently celebrated its 35th milestone year, reinforcing its position as a leading marketing and networking event in the Mexican Caribbean. Over the years, the event has witnessed exponential growth, and this year was no exception, hosting an impressive 3,000 business meetings.
This year’s edition saw participation from a diverse array of over 100 companies and 200 buyer-delegates from 16 countries, including Germany, Australia, Brazil, and the United States, among others. These buyer-delegates, primarily tour operators focusing on the Mexican Caribbean, engaged with 86 suppliers representing a broad spectrum of the travel industry, from hotels and resorts to government organizations and other travel service providers in Mexico.
The Cancun Travel Mart has consistently played a pivotal role in enhancing destination marketing. It offers a unique platform for stakeholders to engage in meaningful discussions, negotiations, and social events, all aimed at optimizing occupancy rates for the upcoming vacation seasons. Reflecting its commitment to the industry, the event previously heralded the establishment of the Mexican Caribbean Hotel Council, a conglomerate of the Associations of Hotels and Vacation Clubs across the state. This council was officially inaugurated during the last Tourist Tianguis, with the presence of Ms. Mara Lezama, the Constitutional Governor of the State of Quintana Roo.
Recognizing the significant contributions of hotels in Cancun, Puerto Morelos, and Isla Mujeres, which collectively account for a substantial portion of the state’s Gross Domestic Product, the Cancun Travel Mart underscores the importance of amplifying tourism promotion budgets. This is crucial to ensure that the brands associated with these destinations remain a top choice for potential tourists.
During the event, Turizmcinin Gazetesi had the opportunity to engage with Jesús Almaguer Salazar, the president of the Hotel Association of Cancún, Puerto Morelos, and Isla Mujeres. The conversation centered around the primary markets for Cancun travel and the average duration of tourist stays from these markets. Insights from this discussion have been captured in an exclusive video, which is available for viewers below.
The Cancun Travel Mart, with its 35-year legacy, remains committed to promoting the Mexican Caribbean. As it continues to bridge global buyers with local suppliers, the event is poised to play an even more influential role in the region’s tourism sector in the coming years.
