Indonesia is set to launch its first dedicated MICE marketplace in Jakarta this July, with the inaugural Indonesia Business Event Mart (IBEM) taking place alongside the Southeast Asia Business Events Forum (SEABEF) from 28 to 31 July 2026 at the Jakarta International Convention Center.
The event is organised through a strategic partnership between E&C Productions and TTG Events, with support from Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism. It aims to connect buyers and exhibitors from Indonesia and international markets on a single platform for business matching and industry growth.
The inaugural edition is expected to host 250 buyers and 200 sellers, bringing together destinations, venue hotels, and event solution providers with key decision-makers. Organisers say the event is designed to deliver meaningful business opportunities while reinforcing Indonesia’s appeal as a competitive MICE destination in Southeast Asia.
The Jakarta International Convention Center sits approximately 45 minutes from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, giving international and regional delegates straightforward access to the venue. Organisers cited Jakarta’s strong international air connectivity and its status as the national capital as key factors in the choice of location.
Running alongside IBEM, SEABEF will function as a regional knowledge-sharing platform, bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, and associations to examine trends, challenges, and opportunities shaping the future of business events across Southeast Asia. The co-location of both events is intended to create a combined experience that pairs thought leadership with commercial engagement.
By integrating high-level discussions with business matching opportunities, the two events aim to offer a stronger return on investment for delegates through both industry insight and tangible commercial outcomes.
A post-show island-hopping tour will also be arranged for hosted buyers and media, covering coastal attractions including Onrust Island and Macan Island. The tour is hosted by the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Office and is designed to give delegates a firsthand look at the destination’s heritage and natural environment beyond the city centre.
The MICE sector has become an increasingly competitive space across Southeast Asia, with cities including Singapore, Bangkok, and Kuala Lumpur investing heavily in convention infrastructure and international buyer programmes. The launch of IBEM positions Jakarta as an active contender in that landscape, backed by government support and a growing portfolio of venues and experiences.
Indonesia receives tens of millions of international visitors each year, with business travel forming a significant and growing segment. The country’s archipelago geography also offers a distinctive added-value proposition for incentive travel programmes, a point the post-show touring component of IBEM is designed to demonstrate directly to attending buyers.
IBEM 2026 will run for four days from 28 July, with all sessions held at the Jakarta International Convention Center. Further information is available through the IBEM Committee Media Team at TTG Events.
